Deadline: end of the first week of school year 6TV
Doing your internship
Finally the moment is there: you will be doing your internship. Some students will be part of an organisation where everything goes the way they expected, whereas others will meet with quite some surprises. Either way it will definitely be exciting. When you are visiting and doing your internship, be aware that you are a guest at the company - and in some cases the host family - and that you are representing the school and sometimes even the country. In most cases, people with connections to the organisation will have arranged this placement for you. You also have a reponsibility towards them. Many of them still hope to be doing business with the organisation in the future.
A few things to take into account:
Log
During your internship you will keep a log. In this log, briefly write down what you have done and how many hours you have spent on it; this can be written in key words. Find the log form at the bottom of this page as well as in Magister Studiewijzer.
Evaluation form
Complete the evaluation form at the end of your internship with your internship supervisor. The evaluation form is used for your internship supervisor to score certain key skills. In addition, there are some open questions, including one asking whether or not the company would like to host students in the future. Do not forget that when you leave your internship placement, it is polite to thank your internship supervisor and any other people who may have helped you. You can even consider bringing a small gift from the Netherlands. The evaluation form can also be found at the bottom of this page and in the Studiewijzer. Do not forget to bring it printed to your internship, that's the quickest way to complete it.
Deliver
Deliver the log and evaluation form before or on the final day of the first week of 6TV in Magister Opdrachten or in the Opdrachtenbox in room 012. This is the same deadline as the one for the next step.

A few things to take into account:
- Adapt to the rules of the organisation, for example about working hours, breaks, etc. Ask questions! It will remain difficult to be fully aware of all locals customs, especially in a foreign country.
- Adapt your clothing to ruling norms. Nobody will look up if you are dressed too carefully, whereas they will if it's the other way round. Try to find out in advance what is expected of you in that area. Being on your phone, chewing gum, keeping your air pods in or wearing your coat will also not be appreciated in a working environment.
- Mind your language. The direct way in which Dutch people often communicate, is not always appreciated abroad. Avoid language that others may consider rude.
- Take intitiative. Show that you are enthusiastic and willing to do things.
- Make sure there is clear communication between your internship supervisor and host family if necessary.
- Never expose confidential information about your organisation.
- Self-awareness is a good quality, being stubborn is not.
- Be positive. Speak positively of the things you have seen in the company and also don't be negative about the school.
- Make clear agreements and meet them. The guest (that's you) adapts to the organisation and the host family, not the other way round.
- All rules that normally go for exchanges and travels also go for this internship (e.g. do not bring or use alcohol or drugs, behave responsibly, do not needlessly endanger yourself or others, keep to agreements made with you parents, your school and your internship organisation)
